counterfeiting the Government opium preparations or attempting to pass off as Government preparations the opium preparations which are not of Government origin.

Section 57 prescribes the penalty on discovery of Raw Opium illegally imported; or of a shortage in Raw Opium in the place where it is stored on importation or of a shortage in the place where it is stored under a permit and imposes the penalty on in the first case the

person in wose possession such illegally imported opium is found and in the second and third cases the person in whose nee the opium in question is stored.

Section 58 makes the giving of any false particulars or

return required under the Ordinance an offence.

Section 59 makes tue contravention of a licensee of any of

the provisions of the Ordinance an offence and imposes on any licensee

liability for the acts of his servants in the course of his businesa

and a personal liability on the servant himself.

Section 50 provides that attempts to comit any offence or

aiding or abetting in any offence may be met by the same punishments

as can be accorded in a substantive offence itself or to a substantive

offender himself.

Section 61 gives the general penalty for contravention of the

Ordinance in cases where no special penalty is particularly prescribed.

10. (ə) Miscellaneous.

Section 62 gives the Governor-in-Council power to make regulations for various detail purposes and for the better carrying

out of the provisions of the urdinance.

There is not much differance in general principle between the provisions of Part III of the Ordinance and the provisions which existed in the older law altough the different sections of the Ordi- -nance have been somewhat differently arranged.
